Any species. Any finish.
We build in the wood your drawings call for and finish it to your sample. Veneer, custom panels, finishing and metal coverings such as stainless steel and brass: we handle everything, from the first sample to the finished piece.
From anegre to ziricote.
A few of the species we build in most often. It is not a limit: if your specification names a species, we will source it.
- AnegreA pale, fine-textured African hardwood with a soft, shimmering figure.
- Rift white oakStraight, even grain without the ray fleck of quartered oak. A calm, architectural surface.
- SycamoreVery pale and fine. Quarter-cut, it shows a small, lace-like fleck.
- WalnutWarm brown with a rich, varied grain. The classic choice for libraries and paneled rooms.
- EbonyNear-black, dense and fine. Used for inlays, accents and dramatic surfaces.
- RosewoodDeep red-brown with dark streaks. Availability depends on the species and the rules on its trade.
- ZiricoteDark brown with a distinctive black, spider-web figure.
- And moreAny species your drawings call for, confirmed with a sample before fabrication.
Veneered panels, made to the job.
Our panels are made for each project, not cut from stock sheets. The veneer, the direction of the grain and the match are decided for the room they go into.
- Made to sizePanels sized to the shop drawings for each wall, door and cabinet.
- Kept in sequenceVeneer leaves stay in the order they were cut, so the figure flows from one panel to the next.
- Matched to the elevationThe match is chosen wall by wall: blueprint, book, slip or pleasing.
- Approved firstVeneer and finish samples are approved before fabrication.

How the leaves are laid.
How the veneer leaves are arranged decides how a wall reads. We choose the match with you, wall by wall.
The whole wall is planned as one surface. Panels and doors come from a single run of veneer, so the figure carries on from one to the next.
Alternate leaves are flipped, so each pair meets at the joint as a mirror image. The most familiar look in paneled rooms.
Leaves are placed one after another without flipping, so the same figure repeats in a steady rhythm.
Leaves are picked for similar color and tone rather than an exact grain line, for a calm and natural face.
Any finish, any sheen.
Bring a sample, a paint chip or a photograph. We make a finish sample to match it, and nothing is finished until you approve it.
Discuss a finish- Clear finishesLet the wood show, from a flat matte to a full gloss.
- StainsColor the wood while keeping its grain, matched to your sample.
- Painted finishesAny color you specify, smooth and even.
- Natural finishesOiled and waxed surfaces that keep the feel of the wood.
- Decorative finishesCerused and other special effects, on request.
- Ready for the siteDelivered fully finished, or primed if the painting is done on site.
Not only wood.
The outside of a cabinet can be as individual as the room. We cover cabinet fronts, panels and trim in stainless steel, brass and the other materials your design calls for, and build them together with the woodwork.
Discuss a material →- Stainless steelCovers for cabinet fronts, panels, toe kicks and kitchen surfaces.
- BrassCovered fronts and panels, edge trims, inlays and accents.
- Metal with woodMetal set into veneered or painted work as edges, reveals or framed panels.
- Other surfacesIf your drawings call for another covering, send them and we will tell you how we would build it.
